I am 165 and want to be 130 in two-three months fast. Don’t have any Home equipment only rubber bands and yoga mats. In school for about 2-5 hours a day… Need to lose FAST!

Other options instead of newspaper to line the bottom of a Brooder box?

I was wondering is it okay for me to line the bottom of my brooder with something other than newspaper? I was thinking maybe a piece of a yoga mat or any other non-slipped rubber materials. I was reading that sometimes when using newspaper it can cause a chick to have spraddle feet. I would like to hear from other people who used newspaper and also people who opted for something else.
i just want the chicks to get a good grip with their feet. I’m going to use pine shavings on it after a day or so.

Will a foam yoga mat not slip around on wooden floors or will i need rubber for that? thanks.?

It depends if the wooden floor is polished or not. If it is not polished than the foam mat should be fine, however if the floor is polished I would suggest a rubber one. Rubber mats also tend to keep in better condition for longer too.

What Type of Yoga Mat Should I Buy?

I shall be taking a course in Yoga next semester, where I shall practice it for about two hours a week for 14 weeks (at least). I did some research, and heard that natural rubber yoga mats are the best, and to make sure they were easily cleanable. But I couldn’t find any more than that.

I am 5′11" and 150 lbs.

Are natural rubber mats really the best?
How thick should the mat be?
How long/wide should the mat be?
Is there anything else I should know about yoga mats?

Hey there,

Purchasing a yoga mat is based a lot on your own personal preference and needs.
Things to consider are how often you will be using it, where, for what type of class and any other special needs/preferences eg. extra long mat. If you are going to be transporting it a lot, go for a lighter mat and find a basic strap to carry it with.

Most mats are about 3-4 mm in thickness, which tends to be ideal. Thicker than this is great if you have an injury and require additional cushioning. However, with more cushioning you lose stability, so there is a playoff between the two. There are mats that have extra length for taller yogis. Most mats average about 6 feet however there are some that are 7 feet in length.

Personally, I haven’t found that natural rubber mats are better than mats made of synthetic polymers, but is more of a personal preference and how you like the feel of them. Some synthetic ones do have advantages with special technology used to create more grip with for example.

Cleaning your mat is easy and you can even create your own yoga mat cleaner using a spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of tea tree oil. Give your mat a light spray and a rub down with a towel, then let dry before rolling up. The tea tree oil, besides having a nice scent, is naturally antibacterial.

What accessories do I need for EA Sports Active Wii? Does it use a yoga mat or exercise ball?

I was thinking about buying EA sports active for the nintendo wii but what accessories do I need? It comes with the leg strap and rubber band but does it make use of a exercise ball or yoga matt? Any suggestions?

ive heard that concrete is bad for ankles/knees/feet, so ive been using a thin rubber yoga mat over concrete then a rug over the yoga mat. Will that work?

Yes that really should be much better for your joints then jumping on plain concrete..

Yoga mats that don’t peel?

Has anyone found a yoga mat (just a standard one, not for Bikram or hot yoga) that has a surface that won’t peel? I have a Gaiam mat that has (I think) rubber blended with jute and it peels and flakes all over. Any great alternatives?
I’d like to stick to natural fibers, too. Natural rubber, perhaps jute or hemp. (At least PVC-free and/or recyclable/biodegradable materials.) Any suggestions?

Try the GoFit Yoga mat. You can get it at Target for under $20. I personally use the GoFit and have had no peeling problems at all. Plus it is thicker than a standard yoga mat so it has more comfort. Good luck!
