which yoga mat should i buy? nike or lululemon?

hi everyone,

i will be starting yoga classes soon … just wanted to know what would be your recommendations on a good starter mat

i bought both of them and want to return the one.. once i’ve made a decision.

this nike one, its 3mm.. it has nice straps. my dad had a nike yoga mat and it seems like they’ve skimped on the thickness as the old one was 4mm

i like that the align mat is thicker .. but i dont know if that will mean its not as hard on my back. but i heard many reviews of it and its not as great — plus there are no straps i can see… which is an inconvenience.

Are Yoga Mats Just For Women?

It may perhaps be dangerous to say but I do not perceive yoga as a man’s thing. No doubt some guys may disagree with this however amongst the men of my acquaintance I do not know at least one that practices yoga. I’d make use of my garden shed if I planned to meditate because that could be where the vast majority of my profound thinking is done along with where a few main conclusions are made. When I mentioned the topic to my wife she said that as per her acquaintances the majority of guys sat on top of toilet seats instead of yoga mats to do their thinking and she can be correct. Though not really my type of thing, I can not help but think of all the times I’ve sat there waiting for what appeared to be forever. In time an embarassed colleague comes out tucking away his newspaper or whatever reading material suits him.

 

People will always be searching for a way to get in shape and healthier. In spite of this, I have not noticed a man take up yoga. I’m sure a number of males do, though they are the minority.. It’s just not the most masculine man thing, now, is it? Weight training, sporting activities and golf are more likely candidates to attract a man. Relaxing on the yoga mat in yoga positions and chanting aren’t exactly the most mannish things. As a matter of fact, it will be likely to make a guy the butt of many an office joke. At the end of the day, I believe that various activities were exclusively planned with ladies in mind. Saying this doesn’t take into consideration the true yoga that originated in India many years back and is still practiced there today.

 

There should actually be a new term for the modern yoga for instance “recreational Yoga” since those people who sit or lie on top of yoga mats in the present day bear no resemblance to the original people and the yoga philosophy is lost in quite a few cases. How I Relax On My Yoga Mat

I was introduced to yoga by my friend a few years ago and use it to suit my own purposes. Although I have read all about the yoga philosophy I do not embrace all the rules. As a hard working business women I have far to much work related stress and far too little time. I have developed the habit of coming home from work, preparing dinner and then getting my yoga mat and spending as much time as possible in deep relaxation until my husband comes home. He does not disturb my concentration, but instead is very considerate in allowing me more relaxation time by starting dinner. Even though it involves vigorous exercise, I find it very relaxing It gives me the opportunity to relax my mind, to take stock of the day’s events and often to solve any problems I have encountered that day. My yoga mat has a special significance for me, because it is the first one I bought. It wasn’t that expensive, and was worth every dime I paid, even at twice the cost. As soon as I pick it up the stresses of the day begin to dwindle and before I roll it out I give it a hug which my husband finds very amusing but he knows how important my yoga is to me and supports me totally. I tried to get him to take up yoga, even promising to buy him a yoga mat for his birthday, but he declined saying that he preferred fishing and that, for him, had exactly the same effect. I had to agree with him when he said a new fishing rod would be a much better idea. I make many of my boardroom decisions on my yoga mat but I suppose thsat applies to the golf course and the river bank equally.
