Help with kneeling for yoga?

I’d like to try yoga, but have REALLY wonky knees – can’t kneel. Hurts. Is there a surface, thicker & squishier than a "mat" that I could buy? Something with the consistency, maybe, of one of those anti-stress balls you can squeeze? Surely other people with bad knees can do yoga. :(

a basic yoga mat has a thickness of about 3mm, but there are other mats that have a bit more cushioning and are great for anyone with sensitive joints or injuries. The only thing to be conscious of is with an increase in cushioning there is a decrease in stability.
I would recommend going into your local studio and speaking with an instructor. They are very mindful of things like this and can suggest a great mat as well as what kind of yoga class would be best for you.

The Path to Enlightenment

With the aid of Alara Kalama, he soon started to learn meditation and learned an exalted form referred to as absorption.  This permitted him to achieve a state of nothingness where there was no moral or cognitive dimension. It’s the Buddhist understanding that at that moment he achieved a state of being that surpasses anything else in the universe. Each of our normal experiences are based on preconceptions and circumstances: how we were raised, our ordeals, faults and mistakes. Enlightenment is a state when the complex inner workings of existence become apparent and the source of man’s suffering identified.

For the next 45 years, the Buddha journeyed through much of what’s now northern India. He taught the way of Enlightenment to all or any who desired to comprehend. This particular instruction came to be referred to as the dharma or “the teaching of the enlightened one.     The Buddha accepted many disciples that subsequently achieved their own Enlightenment and so they trained others.

Buddhists believe Buddha attained a state of existence that goes out beyond everthing else in the world. If regular experience is based on conditions – upbringing, mindsets, viewpoints, perceptions, and so forth – Enlightenment is Unconditioned.
